HESEFA was created by Elena Edwards (currently Managing Director) in 2000 as an independent commercial cleaning company under the then name Helen Services, on a cold winter night over a cup of coffee with friends, having talks about starting a cleaning business that could offer a better service to the customer and equally a better working environment for the cleaners in an industry ruled by the law of ‘the cheap and the quick flick’.

Back in the year 2000 we were only cleaning small offices on the High Street. 12 months later we were cleaning large factory units in Worthing industrial estates – contracts that we are still running today.

In 2005 we started working in the education sector and we have successfully run cleaning contracts in public and private schools ever since. Also, the same year we brought to Sussex for the very first time the Dry Fusion carpet cleaning technology that allowed us to dry the carpets within 30 minutes after cleaning.

But the pinnacle of our success must be the year 2008 when we completed the first cleaning project in a NHS hospital – Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital. Towards the end of 2011 we had been selected yet again to work in all West Sussex PCT trust wide premises following a public bid.

The end of 2012 found us inside the brand new private hospital in Brighton and Hove City – Montefiore Hospital – part of Spire Healthcare, in charge of the deep cleaning of most of the establishment, against the clock, ready for opening in November. After the opening, we have been offered the contract for the deep cleaning and decontamination of all the clinical areas, to include the Operating Theatres and the Sterilization Department on a regular basis.

At the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014 we started the rebranding process from Helen Services to HESEFA. Why HESEFA? Helen Services is no longer a small cleaning company carrying out cleaning jobs. Today, our company is an integral part of the Facilities Management of large businesses, schools, hospitals and sport clubs. The name HESEFA comes from Helen Services in Facilities.

We strongly believe that success is a journey. It has multiple peaks and not one ultimate pinnacle. One success builds on another. Setbacks have also helped us build success because they taught us everything we know and everything we know can only help you.

The key for our success is in the 100’s of cleaning crew that joined the company over the years and it was not just their knowledge that they brought to the business but also their great ability to share their knowledge and everything they learnt on each job with the rest of the crew.

The company sustains a steady organic growth year on year and we have already passed the £4 million mark in sales of cleaning services alone.

The company is located in Worthing, West Sussex and we have the infrastructure, the manpower and the knowledge to clean any commercial property across Sussex on a regular basis or short time projects, however complex or diverse the cleaning job is.
